This relaxing, hands-on technique uses specific light touch that is effective in treating the head, low back, trunk, neck and extremities. Using feedback from the patient's body as a guide, gentle pressure is used to palpate (feel) the movement of the Craniosacral system, allowing for profound discovery and used as an effective treatment of the underlying problem's sources.

The Craniosacral system extends from the head to the tailbone, consisting of the "Membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord", according to John Upledger, D.O. (osteopath). The history of the Craniosacral system dates back to the early 1900's and the research of osteopath William Sutherland. In 1975, Dr. Upledger set out to scientifically confirm the existence of this system, and focused on its use in evaluating and alleviating pain and dysfunction through Craniosacral therapy. He established The Upledger Foundation in 1987: "Dedicated to the natural enhancement of health, the Institute is recognized worldwide for its groundbreaking continuing education programs, clinical research and therapeutic services".
At STAR Clinic, Craniosacral work has brought dramatic results in our patients as treatment for headaches, whiplash, spinal pain, peripheral neuropathy, pre and post surgical treatment, psycho-genic pain disorders and chronic pain, just to name a few.
