Your therapist is trained in SomatoEmotional Release (SER) through the Upledger Institute. They describe SER as a "therapeutic process that helps rid the body and mind of the residual effects of past trauma and associated negative responses".
A person's body may use pain as a nonverbal message about underlying imbalances. SomatoEmotional Release is used with permission of patients who are seeking a deeper understanding of their painful conditions. Through SER, patients can refine their skills in listening to these nonverbal messages, opening the door to communication between body and mind.
