At STAR Clinic, yoga therapeutics are tailored to each patient's comfort and level of experience, whether the patient is brand new to yoga or a long time student. We may introduce yoga to patients as a therapeutic medium, or to assist ongoing yoga students in a return to their practice.
Owner and physical therapist Joan Dillon has studied and practiced Iyengar yoga for over 26 years. She received Advanced Teacher training at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco, and has taught yoga classes in the community. Joan has incorporated this expertise into her physical therapy practice, using yoga to evaluate subtle muscular imbalances in her patients. It has proven to be an effective tool for stretching, strengthening and improving spinal alignment.

Yoga is beneficial for core strengthening, post-partum pain and stiffness, stress reduction and relaxation, as well as for increasing overall mobility and flexibility. Patients may be introduced to Pranayama (science of breath exercises), which benefits posture, eases respiratory limitations, reduces stress and increases energy level.
The techniques learned at STAR Clinic can be used for a simple and effective home exercise program. Yoga practice can benefit patients of any age, throughout their lifetime!
